Lent and Easter

Lent begins on Wednesday 6th of March - join us to begin your journey through Lent at 7:30pm.

There will be many services through Lent in which we reflect on Jesus' fast in the wilderness, on his journey to Calvary, and on our sins and need for God's freely-given saving grace.

On the 25th March, we will remember the good news of relief of man's darkness brought to the Blessed Virgin Mary by God's messenger, in our Eucharist of the Feast of the Annunciation.

On Sunday 7th April (Passion Sunday) we will be holding an open 'come and sing' of Maunder's devotional cantata 'Olivet to Calvary' at 6pm (in place of Evensong) - you are warmly encouraged to come, whether to sing or to listen.

Sunday 14th April (Palm Sunday) will be marked by a procession through the churchyard in the morning and the singing of the Reproaches at Evensong.

In Holy Week we will be holding:

  • Sung Eucharist on Maundy Thursday (18th April) at 7:30pm;
  • The Way of the Cross - a said service at noon on Good Friday (19th April); following which the church will be open for prayer
  • Veneration of the Cross and Mass of the Presanctified (Good Friday, 2pm)

Finally, on Easter Day we will celebrate with

  • 9 am - Holy Communion (Book of Common Prayer)
  • 10am - Sung Parish Eucharist
  • 6pm - Solemn Choral Evensong with Benediction

We look forward to having you with us.
