The Friends of St Lawrence

The Friends of St Lawrence was founded in 1958 as an independent social society, "open to all persons interested in the welfare of St Lawrence", and "united by a common desire to aid in its maintenance, development, and well-being". The Friends run a programme of monthly Friday night talks by guest speakers, as well as holding occasional social events - here is the 2018-19 (60th anniversary) programme: The Friends raise some funds for the church - recent gifts have included the reparation of our remaining 17th-century furniture, and a new votive candle stand. There is a Friends' Evensong service on the closest Saturday afternoon in May to the date of the foundation stone of the "new" church building following an AGM and followed by an invariably fine tea. There are three officers: the President, the Honourary Treasurer, and the Honourary Secretary. The current Secretary is Mr Kingsley Boulton.
