Advent and Christmas are important and exciting times in the church's calendar, and there will be plenty of opportunities to join in preparing for and celebrating Christmas with us at St Lawrence this year. Advent - the time of preparation for the coming of Christ - begins on Sunday 2nd December. We will be holding an Advent Procession at 6pm on Sunday 2nd December, a traditional chorally-led service of light, movement, and music which we warmly invite you to. Refreshments will be served after the service. Saturday 8th December 4pm - our partnership concert with York Musical Society, raising money for charity. The concert will be conducted by Dr Richard Shephard, David Pipe is the organist, and the York Brass Quintet will appear. Tickets will be available both in advance and on the door. Friday 14th December (7pm) - The Friends of St Lawrence's Christmas Celebration - tickets available from Mrs Dickson, Mrs Braithwaite, or Mrs Reed, or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org Sunday 16th December 6pm - Nine Lessons and Carols - led by the church choir. A popular service of dramatic carols and lessons as we prepare for Christmas. Christmas Eve (Monday 24th December) 3pm - Blessing of the Crib - a service around the crib for children and families. Christmas Eve (Monday 24th December) 11:30pm - Midnight Mass - the first Eucharist of Christmas (with carols). Christmas Day (Tuesday 25th December) 10:15am - Sung Eucharist. Join us to celebrate the coming of Our Lord and Saviour! A traditional sung communion service.
