Happy Eastertide!

A happy Eastertide to all parishioners and visitors to this website! St Lawrence has been very busy recently, with Stainer's Crucifixion sung for Passiontide, a Palm Sunday procession and a passion reading, 70 gathered from across the York City Centre churches in the Hall for a Passover Supper, a fair turnout on a bright Good Friday, the Exsultet sung at a glorious Easter Eve Vigil (despite the stormy weather), a good number of parishioners celebrating Easter Day with us (including children hunting Easter eggs in the churchyard), and Easter Monday's coffee morning. Most services are now being held in the church. Other than our usual services, there will Sung Eucharists on Thursday 5th May (Ascension Day) and Wednesday 10th August (St Lawrence's Day) as well as Choral Evensong followed by the Friends' annual tea on the afternoon of Saturday 21st May. There will also be a rather special event for all to come and celebrate at on Saturday 11th June...save the date! We look forward to welcoming you soon. The Archbishop of York, Rev'd Nattrass, Mr Jackson, servers, and a teacher and children from St Lawrence's School together after Sunday's service.
We had a very happy and successful series of Harvest celebrations - it was lovely to welcome children and teachers from St Lawrence's school together with the Archbishop of York on Sunday, whilst the choir were particularly melodious at Evensong before a cheerful Harvest supper on Wednesday. Thank you to all those who contributed in whatever way and whichever form.
