Community

St Lawrence’s is proud to play a part in the parish and the wider communities of York, with a range of events hosted at the church and the church hall. While the church school has moved from being right behind the church to up Heslington Road, close links remain with the school and its governing body.

A typical week sees yoga mornings, over-60s lunches, a film screening, bell-ringing, bingo-calling, birthday parties, informative talks, and lots of cups of tea and cake, open to and attended by people of all ages, creeds, and backgrounds.

Throughout the year, the church hosts concerts and carol services, and welcomes the York Normandy Veterans for Remembrance Sunday, while a set of open coffee mornings and bric-a-brac sales are held on bank holidays during the summer in the hall.

If you’d like to find out more about any of the events run at St Lawrence’s, please do get in touch.
