Young People

St Lawrence is very welcoming to University students - apart from the many students and other young people who sing in the choir, serve in the sanctuary, run Sunday School, and ring the church bells, students have been heavily involved in other areas of church life (not least the PCC). Many students live in the parish and churchgoers are used to being joined by students at services and at social activities. If you are a local student, St Lawrence is a very welcoming place to be, and there is a lot of opportunity to get involved in the community if you are interested in helping.

For younger children, St Lawrence's main work is with its own church school - St Lawrence's Primary School - and another local primary school, Fishergate School. The children often come to visit the church, and there are schools' services at the church. We have recently taken the 'Open the Book' initiative to St Lawrence's School.  Children are welcome at our services, and we run a Sunday School at 10am - please come along, you will be made very welcome!
