York Normandy Veterans Window Features in ITV4 Programme
St Lawrence Parish Church and the production of the York Normandy Veterans window has featured in the show “Made in Britain”, broadcast on ITV4 earlier this week, Thursday.
The window, which was installed in the church in November 2020, was made by nationally acclaimed stained glass artist Helen Whittaker of Barley Studios, York. The York Normandy Veterans, who have a close link to the church, played a significant role in guiding the commission of the window, and supported the funding of the costs of the project.
In November, the veterans visited the studios to see the completed window. Mr Ken Cooke, 95, said the design was “brilliant and far better than we ever expected”. he added: “Everyone who had anything to do with it will be delighted with the outcome.”
Mr Sid Metcalfe, 97, said: “Marvellous, amazing and the window shows things that I never expected to see.”
The veterans feature in the documentary visiting the window at the church, which also shows the window being installed.
